Helping you break free from anxiety, self-doubt, and unhealthy patterns.
Therapy for Adults & Students in D.C. & Virtually
Welcome!
I’m Dr. Margaret Hilton, a licensed clinical psychologist committed to helping people navigate life’s challenges and mental health struggles with confidence and self-understanding.
Life can feel daunting when anxiety takes the reins, whether it’s a constant undercurrent you’ve carried for as long as you can remember, or a newer, sharper wave brought on by a specific event or season of life. Maybe you’ve always been the “overthinker,” the “people-pleaser,” or the one who holds it all together, even when it costs you. Or maybe recent changes - a breakup, a new job, a big move, a growing family - have left you feeling off-balance, overwhelmed, or unsure of who you are now. Perhaps you know what you want, but can’t seem to bridge the gap between intention and action.
Coming to therapy is a courageous choice. Whether you're hoping to untangle patterns that have followed you for years, or find steadiness through a tough stretch, I’m here to help you move toward lasting change with curiosity, compassion, and care.
About Me & My Approach
I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The George Washington University. Through my doctoral training, I developed a deep understanding of the complexities of human thought, emotion, and behavior. I am deeply passionate about the work I do; it is a true privilege to support individuals as they grow, heal, and gain clarity in their lives.
Change doesn’t happen overnight - but with the right support, it happens.
In-person and remote options
I offer in-person therapy sessions on Mondays and Fridays at my Washington, D.C. office in Spring Valley (4910 Massachusetts Avenue NW), just blocks from American University and a short drive from Georgetown. Virtual sessions are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. I can provide teletherapy to clients in 42 states.
